(Washington, DC) – Rep. Thomas Massie is standing by his independence after saying political forces tried and failed to buy his vote.

Massie has long positioned himself as one of the most defiant members of Congress, often breaking with party leadership and even clashing with President Trump.

His latest comments appear aimed at showing voters that he cannot be pressured, bribed or pushed into line by Washington insiders.

Supporters see Massie as a rare lawmaker willing to buck both parties when he believes the government is spending too much or violating constitutional principles.

Critics argue his independence often creates headaches for Republicans trying to move legislation. Massie’s response is that his vote belongs to his constituents, not party bosses.
