(Washington, DC) – (Mitch McConnell has reportedly been defeated by Trump-endorsed Republican Andy Barr, a stunning result that would mark one of the biggest political shakeups in modern GOP history.

McConnell, the longtime Senate Republican leader and one of the most powerful figures in Washington, has spent years at odds with the Trump wing of the party.

Barr’s win would represent more than a single race. It would be a symbolic changing of the guard inside the Republican Party, with the old establishment losing ground to candidates aligned with Trump’s movement.

McConnell’s influence shaped the federal judiciary, Senate strategy and Republican fundraising for decades. But among many grassroots conservatives, he became a symbol of the pre-Trump GOP.

Barr’s campaign leaned into Trump’s endorsement and the growing appetite among Republican voters for new leadership.
