(Kansas City, Missouri) – Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Rashee Rice has been ordered to serve jail time after violating the terms of his probation, according to reports.
Rice reportedly tested positive for marijuana while on probation tied to his 2024 high-speed crash case in Dallas. The violation means the Chiefs wideout is now expected to serve a 30-day jail sentence.
The case stems from a multi-car crash in March 2024, when authorities said Rice was involved in street racing before a chain-reaction collision that injured multiple people. He later pleaded guilty to felony charges connected to the crash and received probation, jail time and restitution obligations.
The new development creates another off-field setback for Rice and the Chiefs as the team prepares for offseason workouts. His jail time is expected to keep him away from organized team activities and mandatory minicamp.
For Kansas City, the timing is a problem. Rice has been one of the Chiefs’ most important young offensive weapons, but his legal issues have repeatedly overshadowed his role on the field.
The Chiefs and the NFL have not yet announced any new discipline tied to the probation violation.
