(New York, New York) – Naval vessels intercepted ships tied to the Global Sumud Flotilla as the group attempted to move toward Gaza with aid.
The flotilla had been traveling with the stated goal of delivering supplies into the territory, but the vessels were stopped before reaching their destination. Images from the scene showed multiple boats decorated with Palestinian flags and international banners as supporters gathered around the ships.
The interception is already drawing sharp reaction from activists and observers who argue the mission was humanitarian in nature. Israeli officials have long maintained strict control over maritime access to Gaza, citing security concerns and the risk of unauthorized shipments reaching the area.
The confrontation adds another flashpoint to the ongoing debate over Gaza aid access, naval blockades, and the role of international protest movements attempting to challenge Israeli restrictions by sea.
