(Washington, DC) – Rep. Chip Roy has introduced the MAMDANI Act, a bill aimed at stripping citizenship and removing foreign nationals tied to certain extremist ideologies.

Roy says the legislation is designed to target people who enter the United States, become citizens, and then use that status to promote anti-American movements linked to Marxism, Chinese communism, or Islamist extremism.

The proposal is already drawing attention because of its aggressive approach to denaturalization. Supporters argue the bill is about protecting the country from foreign adversaries and ideological movements that threaten the United States from within. Critics are likely to argue it raises major constitutional and civil liberties concerns, especially around speech, political beliefs, and due process.

The bill’s name appears aimed directly at New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani, whose rise has made him a frequent target of Republicans attacking socialism and far-left politics.

Whether the bill advances or not, Roy’s proposal is likely to become part of a larger fight over immigration, citizenship, national security, and what actions should justify losing naturalized status.
