(Washington, DC) – Jeanine Pirro is putting Washington, D.C. parents on notice, arguing that accountability for violent teen behavior should not stop with the minors involved.

Pirro said parents may need to face consequences if their children are repeatedly involved in street fights, destruction, or violent incidents. Her message is that teen crime does not appear out of nowhere, and adults who fail to control dangerous behavior may eventually have to answer for it.

The remarks come as major cities continue struggling with juvenile crime, large teen gatherings, and public safety concerns in business districts and neighborhoods.

Supporters of Pirro’s position say parents must be part of the solution when minors are terrorizing communities. Critics may argue that criminally punishing parents could go too far, especially in cases involving poverty, absent guardians, or overwhelmed families.

Pirro’s comments are likely to fuel a larger debate over how cities should handle juvenile offenders — tougher enforcement, more parental responsibility, more intervention programs, or some combination of all three.
