(Chicago, IL) – After a Loyola University student was murdered in a Chicago park while walking with friends, her parents are calling out Democratic public officials for their response. Sheridan Gorman, 18, was killed March 19th in a random shooting. The Department of Homeland Security identified Jose Medina-Medina as the gunman. Federal authorities said he was an undocumented immigrant from Venezuela, who was at the time, recently released from custody.
The family, in an interview with Fox News’s Martha McCallum, called out Chicago Alderwoman Maria Hadden who said that the student was in the wrong place at the wrong time. The Gorman’s – originally from Yorktown Heights, NY – say stricter immigration policies could have avoided the tragedy. Mother Jess Gorman said her daughter was not in the wrong place, but rather the suspect was wrongly in the country. They are outraged over Chicago’s reluctance to reform their sanctuary city laws.
