(Richmond, Virginia) – Claims circulating online suggest that fallout from Nick Shirley’s viral reporting on alleged fraud in Minnesota has sparked a political backlash – allegedly extending as far as Virginia.

A post on social media alleges Democrats in Virginia are now responding by filing legislation that would limit or block government investigations into fraud in their own state, following heightened scrutiny of public spending programs.

“I think it’s hilarious,” one user on X wrote, arguing that the reaction shows how damaging the Minnesota revelations have been to Democratic officials.

Shirley previously drew national attention after releasing footage from Minnesota that he said showed red flags at taxpayer-funded facilities, later testifying before Congress on concerns about government fraud.

As of now, no Virginia officials have publicly acknowledged the claim, and details of any proposed legislation remain unclear.
