(New York, NY) — Just last week, New York Republicans picked former NYPD detective Mike Sapraicone to run against Senator Kirsten Gillibrand this fall. In the six days since that announcement, state GOP leaders learned Sapraicone has donated to lots of Democrats, including State Attorney General Tish James. Today former Congressman Peter King called into “Sid and Friends in the Morning” and asked Sapraicone to drop out of the race. King told Sid Rosenberg that Sapraicone can contribute money to whoever he wants, but giving money to Tish James, as she savages Donald Trump is just not what a Republican should be doing.
Sapraicone worked with the NYPD for 20 years. He now runs a successful security company. He has tried to run for office before, mounting a brief campaign for former Congressman George Santos’ seat in the 3rd Congressional District.
