Sikh Man Attacked in Queens in Apparent Hate Crime

NEW YORK (77WABC) — The NYPD is asking for the public’s help in looking for a man wanted for a hate crime in Queens after he viciously attacked a 70-year-old Sikh man.

It was reported to police on April 3 around 6:45 a.m. near Lefferts Boulevard and 95th Avenue, the attacker approached the man and punched him in the face, unprovoked. The attacker then fled the location on foot in an unknown direction.

The victim was taken privately to Jamaica Hospital, where he was treated and released. The incident is being investigated by the NYPD Hate Crime Task Force.

The attacker is described as an adult male, dark complexion, average build; he was last seen wearing black sneakers, jeans and a blue hooded sweatshirt.
