bronxwhitestone

New York, NY (77WABC)-As of Sunday fares are going up at the nine bridge and tunnel crossings operated by the MTA.  Furthermore, commuters with tags issued through the NY Service Center, who improperly mount their E-ZPass Tags, will be subjected to a new mid-tier toll rate.

The MTA says in most cases an E-Z Pass tags should be affixed to the middle of the windshield, just below the rear-view mirror mount.

The new toll rates to take effect Sunday, April 11, are below:

New Passenger Vehicle Rates:

One-Way Trip
Crossing E-ZPass (NYCSC) Mid-Tier (NYCSC) Tolls by Mail / non-NYCSC E-ZPass
Robert F. Kennedy, Bronx-Whitestone, Throgs Neck, and Verrazzano-Narrows Bridges and Queens Midtown and Hugh L. Carey Tunnels $6.55 $8.36 $10.17
Henry Hudson Bridge $3.00 $4.62 $7.50
Cross Bay and Marine Parkway Bridges $2.45 $3.77 $5.09

Staten Island residents using a registered E-ZPass will continue to pay a post-rebate effective toll rate of $2.75 on the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge.

The viral pandemic has caused the MTA to grapple with a $4 billion dollar shortfall. Covid-19 has caused a 70% decline in ridership according to MTA Chairman Pat Foye.

The Cross Bay Bridge toll will continue to be fully rebated for Rockaway/Broad Channel.

More details, including toll rates for trucks, resident plan participants. motorcycles, and buses, and instructions for proper E-ZPass tag mounting, are posted online at MTA.info.

The latest series in toll hikes were adopted by the MTA on Feb. 18th.
