(Washington, DC) – Tulsi Gabbard is opening a major review into foreign biological labs that received U.S. taxpayer support.

The investigation is focused on where American money went, what type of research was funded and whether any projects involved dangerous work with pathogens.

The issue has remained explosive since the pandemic. Millions of Americans still have unanswered questions about overseas lab research, government grants and whether federal agencies were honest about the risks.

Supporters of the review say taxpayers deserve transparency, especially if their money helped fund research in countries with weaker oversight. Critics argue some foreign lab programs are designed to detect outbreaks early and protect national security.
