(Washington, DC) Sen. Mark Kelly is under Pentagon scrutiny after comments about U.S. weapons supplies set off alarms inside the Trump administration.

The issue centers on whether Kelly revealed or discussed sensitive military information while talking about American readiness after the Iran conflict. Kelly says he did not disclose anything classified. Defense officials are now reviewing whether his remarks went too far.

The fight is especially serious because Kelly is not just a senator. He is a former Navy pilot and astronaut, which gives the controversy added weight. Republicans argue someone with his background should understand how dangerous public comments about weapons stockpiles can be.

Democrats are expected to frame the review as political retaliation. They say lawmakers need to be able to ask questions about military readiness without being threatened by the administration.
