(Washington, DC)- A federal judge has released a handwritten note allegedly connected to Jeffrey Epstein, reopening attention on the days before his death in federal custody.

The note was reportedly found by Epstein’s former cellmate, Nicholas Tartaglione, after Epstein was discovered injured in his jail cell in July 2019. Epstein survived that incident, but died weeks later at the Metropolitan Correctional Center in Manhattan.

Jeffrey Epstein’s alleged suicide note from his failed 2019 attempt.

The document has not been definitively proven to be written by Epstein. Still, its release is drawing major interest because it appears to reference his legal troubles, frustration with jail and the idea of ending his life on his own terms.

Tartaglione, a former police officer later convicted in a separate murder case, said he found the note inside a book and gave it to his lawyers because Epstein had initially claimed Tartaglione attacked him. Tartaglione denied that allegation.

Epstein’s death was officially ruled a suicide, but the case has remained surrounded by public suspicion because of security failures at the jail, broken camera issues and Epstein’s powerful connections.

The note does not end the debate, but it adds a new piece to one of the most controversial jail deaths in modern American history.
