(New York, NY) — NYPD Commissioner Jessica Tisch says the NYPD is shifting its public safety strategy as warm weather approaches.
Tisch says the NYPD has implemented a citywide summer deployment plan, with 15-hundred police officers on foot patrol in more than 70 zones across the five boroughs. It’s dubbed the NYPD’s largest summer deployment ever with Tisch saying these zones have already seen a 23-percent drop in major crime.
It comes as Tisch touts a successful winter, tracking a drop in several crime categories, including robberies and shootings.
