(New York, NY) – Charges have been dropped against a former New York Lieutenant Governor after the death of a witness. Federal prosecutors have dropped their bribery case against Democrat Brian Benjamin after a collaborating witness died. The witness was Harlem real estate developer Gerald Migdol who pleaded guilty in 2022 for arranging fake campaign donations for Benjamin’s city comptroller effort.

A campaign which Benjamin ultimately lost. He resigned from his role as lieutenant governor following his arrest in April of 2022. Governor Kathy Hochul has not commented on the latest development on her former second-in-command.
