(Bronx, NY) — The MTA continues to crackdown on drivers who try to get away without paying tolls. Last month they took away hundreds of vehicles from drivers trying to cheat they system. The MTA says its Bridge and Tunnel officers, the NYPD and other agencies impounded 266 vehicles, arrested 55 people and issued more than three-thousand summonses in July. The latest round of crackdowns on fake and covered plates were conducted at the Hugh Carey and Queens Midtown tunnels and the RFK, Throgs Neck, Brooklyn and Williamsburg Bridges, among other crossings. The joint enforcement operations have led to the impounding of over 18-hundred vehicles, close to four-hundred arrests and more than 15-thousand summonses so far this year.
