(New York, NY) – A suspect is in custody and facing charges of attempted murder following a robbery at a mahjong parlor. Police say 22 year old Joshua Dorsett entered the building on Canal St Thursday afternoon, and held women at gunpoint demanding they hand over their purses.

Police were nearby when they got the reports of the robbery, and were chasing the suspect on foot when he pulled out an illegal firearm and shot at the officers. Two police were struck by the same bullet, but authorities were still able to restrain and arrest the suspect.

Dorsett is now facing two counts of attempted first degree murder, assault and criminal possession of a weapon. Dorsett has three prior arrests, his most recent charge was drug related. Police say that he actually visited with his probation officer the morning that the shooting took place.
