WASHINGTON, DC- Ohio Congressman Jim Jordan is the Republican nominee for Speaker of the House. The chairman of the House Judiciary Committee was nominated Friday afternoon during a closed-door meeting. The vote was 124-81. Jordan will now have to gain at least 217 votes from his own party to win the Speaker’s post during a vote on the House floor. House Majority Leader Steve Scalise withdrew his nomination after failing to get enough support from party members.
