JASON-RIVERA-WITH-WIFE
NEW YORK (77WABC) – The widow of murdered NYPD cop 22-year-old Jason Rivera posted a heartbreaking message on Instagram on Sunday, calling him “my beautiful angel.”
The couple were still newlyweds, married on October 9, 2021.
Rivera had his whole life ahead of him when police say 47-year-old career criminal Lashawn McNeil ambushed him and his partner, 27-year-old Officer Wilbert Mora on Friday night.
In one Instagram post Rivera’s wife wrote over a picture on her husband’s locker, “Yesterday I visited the locker room where you used to FaceTime me at [sic] during your meal time or right before you had to go downstairs to the muster room for roll call at 15:00. Last night was supposed to be your day 5 & you were RDO [off] for the next three days,” she said. We both waited for your RDO’s to spend them together. But now your soul will spend the rest of my days without me, throughout me, right beside me.”
His widow ended the post, “I love you till the end of time.”
Rivera knew early on in life he wanted to make a difference in the world. In the high school video below he encouraged young people to never give up their dreams and to stay in school.
