Before the MLB lockout started on December 1st there was a lot of signings around the Major Leagues. Max Scherzer signed a deal worth $130 million dollars with the Mets, star shortstop Corey Seager formally with the Dodgers signed a 10 year deal worth $325 million dollars with the Texas Rangers. These were just a few of many signings that were made before the lockout. This was an exciting period for baseball as some of the best players In the league were signing huge deals. Unfortunately the lockout has put a stop to all of these signings, and also leaves fans patiently waiting for a conclusion to be made between the players and the owners. There are no CBA negotiations scheduled between the MLB and the MLB players association. This leaves everyone wondering whether the season will start on time or not.
Due to the fact that there are no negotiations scheduled between the MLB and the MLBPA I’m starting to think that the season will not start on time, and will start around early to mid may. This will force the MLB to have a shortened season and not have the regular 162 game schedule. I think it’s really important for the commissioner of baseball Rob Manfred, and the leader of the MLBPA Tony Clark to figure this out before the season starts, or else they will probably end up losing fans. I hope they can get something done soon because I’m really looking forward to the upcoming season.
