John Madden, Hall of Fame NFL Coach and broadcaster dies

BRISTOL, CONNECTICUT- (77WABC)-   ESPN reporting NFL Hall of Fame coach and former broadcaster John Madden has died.

Madden was only 32 when Raiders owner Al Davis hired him to coach Oakland in 1969.

Oakland never had a losing record under Madden, winning seven division titles and making the playoffs eight times.

Madden retired from coaching the Oakland Raiders in 1979, at age 42 and with a Super Bowl win under his belt.

He turned in his whistle for a microphone, becoming must -see TV on NFL Football Sundays in the Fall.

John Madden was 85.
