(East Brunswick, New Jersey) – On Monday, Red Lobster abruptly closed the doors to 50 of their locations across the nation. Their website says that 14 of their New York/New Jersey locations are temporarily closed for the foreseeable future. In the first nine months of 2023 the restaurant shared a loss of nineteen million dollars. The restaurant claims eleven million dollars of loss last year came from their “Ultimate Endless Shrimp” deal. In Buffalo, Red Lobster employees and customers were met with a paper sign taped to the front windows, that read “This location is closed. We look forward to serving you at another Red Lobster in the future”. TAGeX Brands is a restaurant liquidator company and they revealed their “largest equipment sale ever” as they auction off equipment from the shuttered locations.  The future of Red Lobster isn’t clear, but Chapter 11 bankruptcy is in conversation.
