NEW YORK (77WABC)- Artificial or real. That’s the decision shoppers have to make when looking for a Christmas tree this year.

According to Consumer reports.org , the Christmas Tree Association say’s the cost of  artificial Christmas trees could be 26 percent higher than last year in some parts of the country.

The average artificial Christmas tree cost $104 dollars in 2019, this year you’ll pay about $131 dollars with overseas shipping delays driving the price up

Real Christmas trees are not affected by those delays , however retailers say expect to see a slight price increase for real trees.

Last year consumers paid an average of $81 dollars for a real Christmas tree.

Retailers say you would usually save money buying early for a real or artificial tree, but this year that notion is off the table with supplies in short demand.
