NEW YORK (77WABC) — Police say a 16-year-old boy was killed in Brooklyn Tuesday when he was accidentally shot in the head by his friend, who was allegedly aiming at another gunman.
The gunfight happened near Pitkin and Miller avenues in East New York around 1:30 p.m. when a gunman walked up and shot one of the teens in the torso. According to cops, another boy then pulled out a gun and opened fire at the gunman — but accidentally shot the 16-year-old in the head during the exchange.
The victim was taken to Brookdale Hospital and pronounced dead. His identity wasn’t immediately released.
The shooting happened a day after a 14-year-old boy was shot while walking to his school in the Bronx Monday afternoon, according to police.
