An Arrest in the Hit-and-Run Death of Actress Lisa Banes

New York, NY (77WABC) A NYC man is under arrest in the hit-and-run death of actress Lisa Banes. Police say Banes, visiting NYC from California,  died days after being struck  by the operator of a scooter who allegedly ran a red light as she attempted to cross 64th Street.

The NYPD says Brian Boyd of 90 Amsterdam Avenue Apt. #8D was placed under arrest on Thursday.

Boyd is charged with leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death and failure to yield to a pedestrian.

Banes suffered severe head trauma as a result of the accident, the evening of Friday, June 4th. She died ten days later at Mount Sinai Saint Luke’s Hospital.

The NYPD’s Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad found Banes was attempting to cross Amsterdam Avenue, from west to east inside the north crosswalk at West 64 Street, with the pedestrian signal in her favor when she was struck. Investigators say the scooter operator,  traveling north on Amsterdam Avenue, ran the red light and struck Banes, knocking her to the pavement.

Banes was 65-years-old. She lived in Los Angeles, Ca. and had recently married her partner.

She was known for her role in “Gone Girl.” According to her resume on IMDB, she appeared in more than 80 film and television roles and Broadway.
