New York, NY (77WABC) — The NYPD is searching for two men after another subway attack happened on Sunday morning.    Police releasing surveillance footage, captured from MTA cameras, in hopes of the public identifying the suspects responsible.

The terrorizing robbery happened just before 5 Sunday morning — as the victim was about to enter the turnstile at the East 59th Street and Lexington Avenue subway station.  Cops say two men confronted the 64-year-old man and demanded cash.

Detectives say moments later the suspects slashed the victim in the head, punched and kicked him before snatching away $150 in cash from the victim, and then running away.

The 40-second surveillance video shows the attack, as the suspects repeatedly punched the victim, as he desperately tried to escape from the men by throwing himself over the turnstile.

The NYPD describes the two robbers as light skin men, between the ages of 18-25 years old.   One of the suspects was wearing grey pants, a black sweatshirt and distinctive Timberland NBA sneakers.   He also has a tattoo on his right hand.

The second suspect was wearing a grey Champion sweatshirt and Nike Flyposit Topaz Mist sneakers.

On Memorial Day morning the union representing NYPD officers tweeted out a message, condemning the most recent subway attack and calling on more officers to patrol undergrounds on the subways.

On Memorial Day morning, police were also investigating a stabbing that happened on the mezzanine level of the 125th Street and Lexington Avenue station.  Police say the 51-year-old victim got into a dispute with another man.   77WABC has learned the suspect first antagonized the victim with a broken umbrella handle. The victim was armed with a knife but dropped it.

The suspect then picked up the dropped knife and stabbed the victim with it, in the back and shoulder.  The victim was taken to Harlem Hospital and is expected to survive.

According to the latest NYPD stats, subway crime is up 162% for the week of May 16 to May 23rd.   This — as Mayor de Blasio and NYPD Commissioner pledged to inject close to 900 to 1,000 additional NYPD officers into the subway system.
