NEW YORK (77 WABC) – A fatal fire occurred in the Midwood section of Brooklyn late Monday, causing the death of an 11-year old girl.

The fire broke out around 10:30 p.m. on Monday at the Brooklyn home on Forrest Avenue. The girl was found unresponsive and unconscious. She was pronounced dead after being transported to Maimonides Medical Center.
One firefighter was injured and taken to the Cornell Burn Unit, and is in stable condition.
Investigators are looking into what caused the fire at the 3-story home.
