Affordable Housing Grows in Brooklyn

syndication-the-anderson-independent-mail-5
(Brooklyn, NY)  —  New York is building what’s being called an Innovative Urban Village.  It’s in Brooklyn and Governor Kathy Hochul was there Tuesday (July 15, 2025)  to help break ground on Phase One of this affordable housing project.
This first phase will include 400 affordable housing units to be built in the East New York section with many going to families that previously were homeless. The concept is to make the complex all inclusive with a new grocery store being built, and the Innovative Urban Village will also offer on-site support, including social and legal services and nutrition assistance.
Ultimately the 10.5 acre site will comprise nearly 1,975 income-based affordable housing units, a performing arts center, a grocery store, local retail, new publicly accessible open space, and a variety of community facilities targeted to the civic, economic, educational, and cultural needs of the East New York neighborhood. The master plan is planned to be constructed over a period of 10 years.
