(New York, NY) — A Bronx man is in the hospital, after he says four of his fingers were chopped off Friday as he shielded his dog from a man trying to stab his pooch with a machete. 34-year-old Tayquon Young is at Bellevue Hospital, recovering after doctors began surgically reattaching his fingers.
Young says he found himself in a verbal dispute with the suspect over his dog sniffing nearby him. People in the West Farms section of the Bronx say they know the attacker from the neighborhood.
A nearby security camera caught footage of the attack. It shows the man with a blade that looks to be two feet long. Anyone with information is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477).
