(New York, NY) — It’s that time of year when New Yorkers struggle to figure out what the right amount of money is to give for Christmas tips. Bankrate Analyst Ted Rossman says the rule of thumb for tipping, is to double the cost of the last payment. So, give your housekeeper of gardener at least an extra week’s worth of pay as a holiday bonus. Rossman says the biggest mistake people make is ignoring the all important end of the year tip. He says even if your are low on cash, you should fork over something to show your appreciation for what they do.

Here are the workers in your life who should be tipped each year at Christmas. Building superintendents, doormen elevator operators, landscapers, mailmen, pool cleaners, handymen, mechanics, dry cleaners, dog walker, and WABC news anchors.
