(New York, NY) — A Bronx mom wants to know why her 12-year-old daughter was handcuffed to a chair at at I.S. 584. Christine Henson says she was was told to come to the school on St. Ann’s Avenue in the South Bronx back on November 19th. When she arrived, she saw the sixth grade student had been restrained to a chair with metal handcuffs. A school safety agent reportedly tried to place the 12-year-old in Velcro cuffs after she had a physical altercation with a student. He then apparently used the metal handcuffs after the sixth grader allegedly started hitting a school administrator.

Henson says she never received any explanation as to why her 12-year-old daughter was handcuffed to a chair. She says her daughter dealt with pain in her wrist and neck after she was finally uncuffed. The mom now says she may transfer his daughter out of the I.S. 584. In the meantime, Henson is planning to file a lawsuit against the school.
