(New York, NY)  – President-elect Donald Trump has chosen Florida Congressman Matt Gaetz from Florida as his attorney general. Trump picked Gaetz, saying he is a “tenacious attorney”, to make big changes to the Justice Department. Gaetz has gotten into some trouble with party leadership in the past. Gaetz led the effort to oust former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy from his position. Gaetz was also the subject of a federal investigation for sex trafficking, but was never formally charged.

Trump also nominated Sen. Marco Rubio from Florida to be Secretary of State. Governor Ron DeSantis will now have to appoint a replacement for his Senate seat.

Former Congresswoman Tulsi Gabbard from Hawaii was tapped as Director of National Intelligence. These picks reflect Trump’s preference for loyal supporters over long-time officials. Gabbard notoriously left the Democratic party and is now a proud member of the GOP.
