(New York, NY) – Locals were left disappointed and heartbroken after officials addressed a leaky fire-hydrant that became an attraction for the community. The so-called “Bed-Stuy Aquarium” is no more after city crews came through and repaved the area.

It started in August, when some sunken pavement and a faulty hydrant came together to create a pool that eventually housed several goldfish. Locals all began contributing decorations such as colorful coral, and there is even a sign honoring where the fish once swam. The city’s Department of Environmental protection paved the sidewalk after the FDNY did an inspection. Crews were concerned that the hydrant could possibly freeze over and become unusable in the winter. The fire department added a lock to the hydrant to keep the water from leaking.
