(Wanaque, NJ) –The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection has issued a statewide drought watch. Governor Murphy is asking residents to conserve water because it has not rained in 26 days. The DEP says the state needs rain badly because reservoirs are running dry.

Two brothers, who run own a Christmas tree farm in Colts Neck, New Jersey say the record-breaking stretch of dry weather is baking their crop of trees.  The Clark brothers say the ground is so dry that they were unable to do any late season plating. They say it’s likely they will have fewer trees to sell this year.

It’s harvest season for New Jersey’s cranberry farmers. They say the long drought may mean a smaller crop.
