Menendez Brothers May Be Released

(Beverly Hills, CA) – The LA County District Attorney has announced that the Menendez Brothers will be resentenced. The pair were convicted in the murder of their parents back in 1989. The two claimed that they were the victims of physical and sexual abuse by their father while their mother allowed it for years.

Recently with a recent documentary and dramatized series on the brothers, the case has gotten renewed attention and calls for the brothers to be released. There was a rally earlier in the week attended by the boy’s aunt, their mother’s sister Joan, along with celebrities like Rosie O’Donnell.

The District Attorney, George Gascón, is currently up for reelection and his opponent has accused him of using this move to influence the race. Former federal prosecutor, Nathan Hochman, says the incumbent democrat is trailing in the polls and is using the case to appeal to voters with a “made-for-tv decision”. A resentencing could make them eligible for parole because the pair were under the age of 26 when they were sentenced.
