(Coney Island, New York) – The famous 97-year-old Coney Island roller coaster, ‘Cyclone’ will remain closed until further notice after troubles last week. The wooden coaster stopped mid-ride as it creeped up one of its inclines last week. All riders had to be taken off and escorted off the ride safely.
Inspectors later discovered a crack in one of the chains. The 97-year-old Cyclone will have to undergo repairs and pass inspection before it reopens. The damage to the already very old wooden coaster begs the question, Would you ride a (almost) 100-year-old roller coaster that costs 10 bucks to ride?
