(Albany, New York) – New York Governor Kathy Hochul has approved 86 more adult-use cannabis licenses. The approval comes as New York is trying to normalize the legal drug across the state. While all this is happening up in Albany, New York City is busting illegal pot shops in an operation spearheaded by Mayor Eric Adams. Agencies are reporting the seizure of over 30-million worth of illegal products, with padlocks on more than 231 illegal stores.
This brings the total number of licenses statewide to 841 issued this year. The state now has over 156 adult-use cannabis stores open and operating. In July, sales surpassed 331-million, bringing year-to-date sales to nearly 500-million.
