(New York, NY) – The last day of classes at New York City public schools are now marred by tragedy after a teenager was killed and a younger child injured in a hit and run incident. It happened moments after school was dismissed in Sunnyside. A 16 year old girl and an 8 year old were crossing the street when a truck hit them and then fled the scene.
The teenage girl was pronounced dead at the scene. The younger child was taken to a local hospital and is expected to survive. Police found the truck, then moments later located a driver and took them into custody. Authorities say the investigation is ongoing.
