(Lake Hopatcong, New Jersey) – In a last minute decision, the NJ-DOT decided to close a portion of NJ-15 South in Lake Hopatcong Tuesday afternoon after they deemed the bridge crossing the Rockaway river unsafe for travel. The decision to close the bridge happened in the middle of rush hour and backed-up Route 15 South for over 4 miles around 4pm Tuesday afternoon. Reports say the congestion lasted hours as drivers were left confused and unaware of the bridge’s closure as the bridge was the towns main route to get onto Route 80.
