(Norwalk, CT) — A busy section of I-95 in Norwalk, Connecticut has reopened after a gasoline tanker truck crash closed a section of the road in Norwalk on Thursday morning. The northbound and southbound lanes opened Sunday after workers demolished the damaged Fairfield Avenue overpass and repaved the roadway. Governor Ned Lamont is praising all the workers who spent the weekend taking down the damaged overpass. They worked around the clock.
A tanker loaded with fuel was involved in a multi-vehicle crash under the Norwalk overpass early Thursday. Norwalk schools were closed Friday to help alleviate traffic concerns in the area. Governor Ned Lamont urged local businesses to allow employees to work from home. Lamont says he will soon announce when and how the overpass will be rebuilt.
