(Washington, DC) — Senator Lindsey Graham is upset over former President Donald Trump’s stance on abortion. The South Carolina Republican says he disagrees with Trump’s belief that abortion should be an issue handled by state legislatures and voters. Graham says the pro-life movement has always been about the wellbeing of the unborn child, not geography. He says he’ll continue to advocate that there should be a national minimum standard limiting abortion at 15 weeks, because the child is capable of feeling pain. Graham says he would allow exceptions for rape, incest and the life of the mother. Trump hit back at Graham, saying his statement was a great disservice to the Republican Party and to our country because it could allow the issue to simmer for as long a period of time as possible. On Monday, Trump took to Truth Social with a video where he said he believes abortion laws should be left up to states decide.

The Arizona Supreme Court is set to issue a ruling today that could either allow abortions up to 15 weeks or ban nearly all of them by reinstating a 19th Century law. The current law since 2022 bans abortion after 15 weeks except when the life of the mother is at risk. The 1864 law, from when Arizona was still a U.S. territory, bans all abortions except for risk to the mother. Pro-choice supporters have been collecting signatures to put abortion on the ballot in November, which if passed would enshrine abortion rights in the state constitution.
