(New York, NY) – Another pro-Palestinian protest unfolded on the Upper East Side of Manhattan on Monday. At times, the demonstration turned chaotic, as one protester was detained by the NYPD. That situation threatened to turn truly violent, as a journalist covering the event said it almost led to a “stampede” of protesters.
Separately, a motorist was trying to make their way through blocked roadways when the protesters turned angry. Some of them accused the driver of trying to mow down protesters. But the NYPD did not stop or detain the motorist. The group that organized the demonstration referred to it as the “Martin Luther King Jr. Day March for Healthcare.”
