New York, NY –The city council is holding a hearing on smoke preparedness, following the choking smoky haze from the Canadian wildfires which covered the city last month. Public Advocate Jumaane Williams says there was no way anyone could have been prepared at that time for a “sky on fire.”  Williams says he’s focused on “preparation, information and communication.” Emergency Management Commissioner Zac Iscol says the city did its best to notify New Yorkers about the air quality.
