NYPD and Pride Security
(New York, NY) – The New York City Police Department says it will increase security in preparation for the 53rd annual Pride March this Sunday.
An NYPD memo notes the march is being held during a time of increased threat towards the LGBTQ community. Pride flags have been vandalized in the city on several occasions, while threats of violence from groups have been reported in other US cities.
The NYPD plans to strengthen security precautions on Sunday, by deploying officers at street closures, and securing the march route.
