The Chicago Blackhawks have agreed to trade winger Patrick Kane to the NY Rangers in exchange for a 2023 conditional second-round pick and a 2023 fourth-round pick. The second-round pick could become a first-round pick in 2024 or ’25 on the condition that the Rangers make the Eastern Conference finals this season. New York is currently third in the Metropolitan Division with a 34-17-9 record. The Rangers trail the first place Hurricanes by nine points, and the second place Devils by six points.

The 34-year-old Kane spent the first 16 years of his career with Chicago, which drafted him with the No. 1 pick out of the Ontario Hockey League in 2007.  Kane went on to become one of the most decorated players in Blackhawks franchise history, as well as one of the most decorated American players in the history of the NHL.   Along with Kane, Chicago won Stanley Cups in 2010, ’13 and ’15, and he received the Hart Trophy as the league’s MVP in 2016. He won his only scoring title in ’16, racking up 106 points to become the first Blackhawk to capture the Art Ross Trophy since Hall of Fame forward Stan Mikita did so in 1968.
