NEW YORK (77 WABC) — If you think you’re putting your life in danger by riding the subways, you just might be right.
The NYPD says the number of murders in New York City subways since 2020 have shot up to to the highest number in a quarter century, even with fewer riders because of the pandemic. So far in 2022, there have been seven murders in the subways.
The New York Post reports that there had never been more than five subway murders in a single year until the pandemic hit in 2020.
Felony crime on the subways is up a shocking 42% percent, compared to the the same period last year.
