Twitter Whistleblower at a Senate Judiciary Committee Hearing
WASHINGTON (AP) — More disturbing testimony from the former chief of security for Twitter — this time given before Congress.
Cybersecurity expert Peiter “Mudge” Zatko told lawmakers on the Senate Judiciary Committee there was “at least one agent” from China’s intelligence service working for Twitter. And he says Twitter also knowingly let India add agents to the company payroll.
The moves, Zatko says, could have given those nations access to sensitive data about users. Overall, Zatko told lawmakers yesterday that Twitter is plagued by weak cyber defenses that make it vulnerable to exploitation by “teenagers, thieves and spies,” any of which could put the privacy of its users at risk.
