The cab driver, 52-year-old Kutin Gyimah, died after police say he hit his head on the ground during an altercation with fare-evading passengers Saturday who also tried to rob him near Beach 54th Street in Far Rockaway. The New York State Federation of Taxi Drivers was at a news conference in support of Gyimah’s sobbing wife who wants justice.
Police say 20-year-old Austin Amos faces several charges, including manslaughter, gang assault and theft. He is seen on video surveillance allegedly throwing the fatal punch that led to Gyimahs’ death.
20-year-old Nickolas Porter faces gang assault and theft charges.
