NEW YORK, NEW YORK  -(77WABC)- With the start of the new school year around the corner the New York City Department of Education is saying it no longer will be randomly testing students for COVID-19. Test kits will be available for students, parents and teachers to use should they come in contact with the virus. You don’t have to wear a mask–but its advised teachers and students wear a mask if they are exposed to COVID.  Many of the other COVID-19 protocols will remain in place. Students will still not need to be vaccinated to attend classes, but will need to show proof of vaccination to participate in extracurricular activities–AND students and staff must wear masks when returning to school on the sixth through 10th day after showing symptoms or testing positive. -School begins September 8th.
